Trying to figure out what to do. I have a 64bit eMachine desktop, with Windows 7 home on it. I believe it was infected with some kind of rootkit last fall, when it was still practically new. I haven't used it much at all since then, and have kept it totally offline. Because I could not find a way to stop remote computers from connecting to it at the time, changing my system settings, disabling my firewall, etc.
